I said I never would... but I bought a Weight Watchers pedometer the other night. In the week I've used it I've been so pleased on many levels. First of all, I have to praise its quality. It is easy to read, resets at midnight to zero (if you have chosen the "all-day tracking option"), has several useful functions, and - which I don't use it for - gives you the Points earned. It also has a secondary clip - SO helpful, since I have lost at least 1/2 dozen pedometers in the past several years. I have it set to the all-day tracking option so every step counts, and I find it useful to match my daily goal - right now I want to, in total, do 5000 steps a day (last Saturday I did 6,000!). If I can just do 100 more each day, before I know it, I will reach the recommended 10,000 daily steps -- and hopefully, painlessly!
I've been playing with the same 5 pounds for a month now (although my In-it-to-win-it weigh-ins have me at a 12 pound total loss) and I think I've had enough of that. I am going to set very modest goals that I know without a doubt I can reach - 5 pounds a month is just fine. My old story was playing with the same 5 pounds - my new story is that I finally am going to punch myself out of that paper bag!
Have a great day!
Miriam
you rock!! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.......
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with Elaine, Miriam - both with the tracking steps and the weight loss! Mini goals work best with me, too.
ReplyDeleteYou're right..it's better to count points with the e-tool than do it on my own. I've counted them for so long, I know some of them by heart - but some I do end up guessing. I will say that I have been frustrated at times with the point tracker as I still find many foods missing, and then end up guessing anyway.
